About Us
YCS/Interact is THE best club at Gunn High School! We are around 200 members strong, and our reputation just keeps growing.
YCS Mission Statement:
By developing service and leadership opportunities for young people and service learning support for teachers, YCS promotes the ethic of service, fosters youth leadership, builds community, and enhances education in Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties in the Bay Area.
Interact Mission Statement:
Each year, Interact clubs complete at least two community service projects, one of which furthers international understanding and goodwill. Through these efforts, Interactors develop a network of friendships with local and overseas clubs and learn the importance of:
Developing leadership skills and personal integrity
Demonstrating helpfulness and respect for others
Understanding the value of individual responsibility and hard work
Advancing international understanding and goodwill
YCS/Interact at Gunn is a merging of these two amazing programs into one seamless community where everyone is welcome. Don’t hesitate to sign up for the email list, there are no obligations!
For more information on the YCS organization, please visit the youth community service page. They are invaluable with their help in establishing our place in the community, serving as a mentor and advisor to our club, and providing great service projects for our members.
Our club is sponsored by the lovely people at the Palo Alto Rotary Club. For more information about Rotary International, please visit the rotary club page. Rotary International is a wonderful organization promoting service, with the motto “service above self”. They also create and help out Interact clubs. Gunn YCS/Interact is in Interact District 5170, the largest district internationally! We are in Area 13 of the district, which consists of Gunn, Pinewood, St. Francis, Mountain View, Palo Alto, GISSV, and Los Altos. Boshiaw Hsu, who is also an officer, is the Area 13 Representative. For more information on District 5170 and Area 13, please visit the interact district page.
We generally meet weekly, on Mondays during lunch in L4, with variations.
